It was a time of pirates and of cowboys, but on Avery Island, Louisiana in 1868, it was a time of quiet and tranquility, that is of course until Edmund McIlhenny came to town; a pirate AND a cowboy, McIlhenny sailed in on his shiphorse and brought with him the treasures of his last excursion. The cherished seeds of the sacred peppers of Mexico. Little did he know that these seeds contained the fractured soul of the ancient aztec god of spice. As he spread the seeds across Avery Island, they grew into a bottle of the spiciest sauce the world had ever seen. Since then Avery Island has been home to Pirates, Cowboys and thrill seekers everywhere all thanks to McIllhenny and his pepper sauce, he called it TABASCO by the way.
